ETS was responsible for the preparatory activities for the design aimed at the geological and hydrogeological framing with core drilling inside the tunnel on the lining structures and on the soils behind it and georadar prospecting; evaluation of the structures with coring inside the tunnel, endoscopic investigations and tests on flat jacks; Tunnel Scan survey and visual inspections during the inspection. The design activities are aimed at drafting general and specialized documents in order to ensure the safety of the tunnel to solve the problems of waterproofing the lining and water disposal.
Executive design of the safety interventions of the Sipicciano 1 tunnel located between km 7+076 and km 7+228 of the Attigliano-Viterbo line.
Related problems
For the problems related to the humidity conditions of the tunnel linings, a specialized study was carried out with finite element analysis using the Plaxis 2D calculation code. A model was created in plane deformation conditions by specifically studying the hydraulic mechanics that are established around the tunnel.
The goal
The objective of the analysis is to determine the hydraulic flow rates through which an adequate internal drainage and water disposal system can be sized
Description of Interventions
- Injections of cement mortar in order to give better mechanical properties to the soils;
- Waterproofing by injections of polyurethane resins of the soils above the cap due to the widespread infiltration present
- Waterproofing through injections of polyurethane resins of the soils at the base of the piers in order to reduce any accumulation of water in areas where there are no drains;
- Waterproofing through injections of polyurethane resins of the soils close to the entrances in order to reduce their porosity;
- Elimination of water infiltration and restoration of the original structural compactness of the walls inside the tunnel
- Construction of an adequate drainage system on the piers and kidneys of the tunnel, in connection with a line water disposal system.
